About Us

The January 16, 2007 launch of DemocracyInteractive.com was in many ways a new beginning and a continuation. The real-time chatroom forum evolved from several earlier versions going back to the 2004 Democratic Presidential primary.

Democracy Interactive is an online community for people who care about the state of our world gather and discuss the issues with each other and people in government, media, arts and entertainment. We believe that connecting with other people serves to empowers all of us as individuals.

Guests who have participated in discussions on the site have included nationally-known authors Paul Waldman and David Sirota, award-winning filmmakers directors Eugene Jarecki and Heidi Draper and media personalities like popular talk show host Mike Malloy, among others.

Although most of the site visitors from the U.S., Canada, Europe and elsewhere would define themselves as decidedly progressive, the site is open to various views as long as discussions can be held without resorting to personal insults.

While the topics of conversation can be serious and engaging at times, the site can also be a place to relax and even have some fun. The chat forum is loaded with humorous emoticons and sounds that help to lighten the mood when needed.

As a conduit for people to communicate, learn about each other and break down barriers of distance and information, DemocracyInteractive utilizes the internet and real-time technology to bring people together to promote a much-needed sense of community - worldwide.
